The so-called Great American Total Solar Eclipse will darken the skies all the way from Oregon to South Carolina, covering most of East Tennessee.
People who descend upon this "path of totality" for the big event are in for an unforgettable experience.

MTSU trains teachers on how to guide students during the solar eclipse

  • Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) is helping teachers in Murfreesboro and surrounding areas prepare their students for the total solar eclipse on Aug. 21. The university's astronomy department has created  a video on viewing safety. Read the full story here

Bledsoe County Schools has received a 2017-2018 Lottery for Education Afterschool Program (LEAPs) Grant to provide an Afterschool Program at all 3 elementary schools. More information will be released after school starts. Please call Barbara Young, BCS Technology Director, at (423)447-2914 with any questions or concerns you may have concerning the LEAPs' Afterschool Application.

Read 20 Rocks!
The Board of Education is rocking the summer away! if you will begin the hunt today, there are 125 “READ 20” rocks hidden across the community. When you find one of these rocks, bring it by the Bledsoe County Board of Education to receive a free book. Don’t delay because this opportunity ends August 7th. No need to re-hide rocks. Limit one book per rock!
